Family Films
These are films geared toward all audiences. There is a lot of overlap between family films and animated films. Oftentimes, the main character is a child or animal. In the 80s and 90s, these films had a lot more bite. Kids acted like kids, they got into trouble, they swore, they got dirty, and they had fun. Now they are creepy Disney Channel zombie kids that don’t do anything exciting except break into song. Here’s what you can expect to see in trailers for children and family films: kids, kids playing, adults acting like kids, mentor figures, animals, talking animals, creatures, bullies, adults as bad guys, action, adventure, fantasy, laughs, musical numbers, Christmas and other holidays, G rated, PG rated, PG-13 rated, a lack of profanity, juvenile humor, jokes that fly over kids’ heads but make their parents laugh, moral lessons, aliens, Steven Spielberg, Disney, and based upon a bestselling children’s book.
